I would like madrix to be able to play a MP3 file, and have that audio be routed to the M2L / S2L system, as well as audio out.. It woudl be good to be able to schedule this as a cue

Currently, MADRIX is absolute focused on LED Control and not planed as a DJ software, because this would be the end of this discussion you start here
There are a lot of other solutions on the market (also for free) which are able to play mp3 very well. And if you play the mp3 on the same computer you get the music into MADRIX very easy (this is what we made every trade fair).
It is only necessary to start a second software, which is not a big deal.
