Hi,

Is it possible to control MADRIX via a MIDI instrument such as a keyboard?

Thanks!

Yes, via Creative Prodykeys protocol

Yes it is possible.
If you have connected the Keyboard via MIDI with the PC, select the Creatvie Prodikeys protocol.
In the future you will be able to set up the Midimap for yourself and your needs.

This is great. So, on the other side, if I want to build my own LED light display panel for shows, what piece of hardware should I buy to hook it up to my computer so that it can be controlled by Madrix via my MIDI keyboard?

Ok, what exactly you want to control with your Midi Keyboard.
There are two way with MADRIX you can use it.
.
First as a Midi Keyboard to play Music which MADRIX analyse to control M2L (Music2Light) Effects.
.
Second as a Midi Controler like Numark Total Control (look at Midi Controler page of this website) to control the live functionality of MADRIX, like the selection of a Storage Place, auto fade, fade type and so on.
.
To the first part of your question.
MADRIX can controls light fixture (mostly led) which understand DMX or have a DVI driver.
I think in your case we speek about DMX.
You are familiar with DMX?
.
This means if your led

Hi!

Thanks very much for your help. I will explain the project further. I want to build a custom LED grid as a background for shows with my band. It will look something like this: http://blogs.msdn.com/coding4fun/archiv ... 18683.aspx

Instead of having to write my own software to control the grid, I would like to use Madrix. So, if it is possible to use Madrix for this kind of grid, then I need to know what hardware or components I need to buy to hook up the grid with the computer.

Could you please let me know about that?

Am I able to try this with the demo version of the software?

Thanks again!

If you build up the grid with led driver which support DMX512 as input you can use MADRIX very well for control.
.
In this case you need a DMX interface, for example our USBone. It
