Please help with Fixture Editor

Post by gabrielefx »

Hi,
first of all I would like to know what are the basic steps to configure my Madrix Plexus and software using the interface on the network.
The first thing I did was to configure an ip address: 192.168.1.90
I plugged the interface to the switch, started the software, and everything was ok, Madrix worked.
Then I decide to navigate through the Plexus menu from the display and I noticed that DMX 1 and 2 was set to on from factory.
I wanted to test the interface with Sunlite 2, then I added an Artnet interface that was set to Universe#1
The DMX monitoring on interface did read the signals.
Then I decided to test the output with Sunlite 2, everything worked well.
I did this test because I already knew Sunlite and was easy to output signals to my fixtures
Then I decided to start Madrix and configure my 4 rgbw led moving heads.
Total panic because programming a fixture table on Madrix is totally different from Sunlite fixture editor.
On Plexus I turned on the Artnet port 1 and 2. Is this the right action? Why have I to open these ports? With Sunlite was not necessary.
On Madrix I set the dmx-artnet to output.
I created a simple matrix of 4x1
I can monitoring signals on the Plexus but nothing happens on fixtures.
I created a new config on Fixture Editor.
My moving heads have 13 dmx channel. This is the channel list:
ch1 0-255 x scanning
ch2 0-255 y scanning
ch3 0-1 close
2 -100 strobe slow-fast
101-199 random strobe
208-217 reset
218-255 open
ch4 0-255 dimmer dark to light
ch5 0-2 red
3-4 red & white
5-7 red & green
8-9 green & blue
10-12 G
13-14 GW
15-17 GB
18-19 GBW
20-22 B
23-24 BW
25-27 RB
28-29 RBW
30-39 RGB
40-49 RGBW
50-83 R open, G gradual, B close
84-117 R gradual, G open, B close
118-151 G open, R close, B gradual
152-185 R close, G gradual, B open
186-218 B open, R gradual, G close
219-252 R open, B gradual, G close
253-255 RGBW dimmer
ch6 0-255 R, dimmer
ch7 0-255 G, dimmer
ch8 0-255 B, dimmer
ch9 0-255 W, dimmer
ch10 0-5 RGBW, color is decided by CH5
6-127 RGBW graduated, slow to fast
128-255 rainbow effect
ch11 0-255 x fine
ch12 0-255 y fine
ch13 0-251 x/y speed adjustment
252-255 x,y vector

In Fixture Editor I created a config with 13 channels of 1 voxel
Then I added ch6,ch7,ch8,ch9 for the rgbw colors
Then I added ch4 dimmer set to fixed value (255)
Then ch3 to fixed value of 255

Nothing happens, fixtures are off

After spending an entire day with Madrix I have found the right fixture
programming.
I had to configure all the 13 channels with some fixed values and not only
the led channels and dimmers. All channels must be filled.
After some tweaking and tests I was able to turn on the leds.

Unfortunately there are some issues:
If I create a patch of 1x1 led I don't see anything
If I create a patch of 4x1 leds starting dmx address to #1 I see only 2
fixtures ON
If I create a patch of 5x1 leds I see 3 fixtures ON
If I create a patch of 6x1 leds I see all the fixtures ON (4)

My fixtures occupy 13 channels each
My first fixture channel is #1, the second one #14, the third one #27, the
last one #40

How is possible that I see ON only two fixtures?

Hi,

Please send us your MADRIX Setup File and your MADRIX Fixture Library to info[at]madrix.com. In this way, we can check the configuration.

Thank you very much!

Hi Gabriele,

Please check the Patch of your MADRIX Setup File for the Wall Washers (go to Preferences > Patch).

In the Setup File you have sent us, the first fixture starts at channel 27! The second fixture starts at DMX channel 40. Due to this configuration, your test results ("issues") occur.

Result: Your fixture profile seems to be correct, but your Patch is not.

Good luck!
